Who's more valuable to the Nuggets long term: Jamal Murray or Michael Porter Jr.?
Oh, man. This this is actually a really good question because I think at face value, most people are just going to say Jamal Murray, right? Uh, the reason I'm kind of hesitant to say that is we still don't know exactly what Michael Porter Jr is yet. Uh, I'm kind of concerned about some of the comments that he's made in the past, but as far as physical athleticism and ability, he's up there with almost anybody that you would want in today's MBA. Um, the reason that I'm hesitant to just say Jamal Murray is I'm curious to see how his how his production continues to play out obviously was very good The bubble last year. But he's been a shell of himself. You know, I think he's maybe been having some injuries that he's been dealing with two. But whenever you sign a Max deal, man, you gotta rely on that player so much because they eat up so much of the team cap. So I'll be curious to see if he kind of maintains the play where he's at Ben now. I would say Michael Porter Jr would be more valuable if he's able to get back to his bubble level played. Obviously. Then I would rather take small Murray. But I don't think this is a straightforward as it seems. Yeah, I'm like, the thing that concerns me about Murray. Is it like, is he the right pairing for Yokich? Like? I mean, if I'm the g m, I'm like, Okay, I'm clearly gonna build around Yokich. I'm gonna ride that train for 10 years and like, Okay, so Jamal Murray is certainly the kind of the train kind of the caboose or whatever you wanna call us if for the next three years. But what about years? You know, four through seven. Like, what is that gonna look like who were gonna come and go after? And Michael Porter Jr certainly could be the answer for that four and seven. And so, I think to your point, the question starts to become a little more nuance to say. Well, like, at what point do we say that Jamal Murray experiment didn't work, and we move on. So does does that by definition, if that's happening right now, which it might be, does that mean Michael Porter Jr is more important because he has a higher wildcard ceiling? I don't know. Yeah, um, you know, my My other thought is to, you know, we still I think Jamal Murray's nearest peak or at its peak, we still don't really know and and obviously still young and can get better. I think just the efficiencies in this game will get better. But as far a skill level, I think we've seen him get to probably speak. I don't think we still know what Michael Porter's peak level is yet to. And I think your point about who plays better off of Yokich is a great point, too, because you're taking the ball out of Yokich his hands a lot to have it in Murray's hand. So, like I said, I'd be curious. I would want one more year before I would answer this question. Crazy, by the way, is Jamal Murray is only one year older than Michael Porter Jr So, um, interestingly, like he's clearly much polished, more polished product than important Junior. Definitely. All right, hit next
