I think this is a pretty obviously Dallas in this situation, you know, they've struggled with a bunch of injuries. Obviously, Porzingis was out for for a good chunk of the start of the year. Luca don coaches, you know, when it's all said and done, he's going to be an M V. P candidate is one of the top 5 to 10 players in the NBA. They've they've just got They've just got more talent right now than than the pelicans. Eso. So I certainly think it's Dallas. You know, New Orleans has a has a very bright future with all the draft picks. And, of course, there there young core with Zion and Brandon Ingram. But I think as of this moment, the Mavericks are just are just simply a better basketball team. Yeah, I I buy that all the way. Obviously, like I felt like they were an interesting team to kind of be the third or fourth best team out West. And so this this performance has been certainly shocking. Um, one thing I'm like kind of shocked about is I'm trying to pull up the stats here, but like their defense right now, I mean, there 27th in the league, on defense and, like, they're actually worse than that. That's what we were just talking about. Like that feels like a blip. Like I feel like they're going to regress back to the mean and start to get to a spot where they're playing at least average defense. Do do you buy that? I I agree with that. I mean, you just, you know, having Porzingis back who you know. Despite his lack of lateral mobility, he is certainly with his length, a presence at the Rim Maxie cleavage as well, missed some time. I think he's arguably their best defensive player. Eso yeah, I think they'll they'll get closer to average on defense, and I think they'll get closer. Thio the top of the league on a fence. I think. The last I saw they were 11th on the offensive end last year. Of course, they they broke the record for the best offensive efficiency in NBA history, so I wouldn't be surprised that they if they move back towards the top five offensively as well. The big concern, though, is you gotta wonder if that Seth Curry for Josh Richardson swap is eyes really not panning out for Dallas with Curry playing so well for Philadelphia. Yeah, that's a really great call that I feel like, got way overlooked during the off season. But that that's a great point. Yeah. I mean, I'm looking at the defensive rating here for the Mavs last season and they were 19, so I mean, they were, you know, roughly in the middle, more towards the bottom on DSO. You know, hopefully, maybe they kind of get back to that point. But there might be enough pieces that have changed significantly that that could change. So, um, it'll be interesting, but I totally agree with you. It's it's clear the Mavs, the pelicans are, you know, a strange team, and, you know, maybe they can figure it out. But it feels a couple years away, where Dallas is certainly Maurin their golden age than than New Orleans. Certainly. Yeah, the pelicans are you know, they're in a confusing period of time here that you know, the Stan Van Gundy higher. I certainly like him as a coach, but don't know if I liked him for a rebuilding project, and they've continued to try Thio push to to win now, as opposed to playing for, you know, 2025 which is again with all of their draft picks with the timeline and and the the age of their young guys. I think they should be, you know, trying to get a good of a draft pick in the in the present, because they're they're a few pieces away Still tournament. All right, next.
