Should have Big Tech censored the NY Post's Hunter Biden allegation?
This is a really deep and complicated issue, But I think in general, big tech has mawr obligations, responsibility than they care to admit. And I think that a lot of the people crying for reform are painting idealistic views under these companies and how difficult it is. It's pretty easy to say, Hey, this story seems fake and so that's censor it. And then what do you do about the more ambiguous ones? What do you do about multiple viewpoints of the same thing that happens? Language is subjective, human, subjective narrative is subjective. And so I think most things in our world are subjective. And so how do you differentiate those things? There's no fact checking for those things, and those things can be often some of the most kind of important and and emotionally charged things. So it's just a very complicated issue that I think the network sort of push off and say, Hey, not my problem. Um, you know, that's that's just content. And then you have the reformers coming and saying, Well, like you guys have toe, make sure everything's right, we have this independent. It's like I don't think that's very pragmatic. So I just I continue to say it's like, Hey, the these big tech companies, like they own distribution on their platform and I think if they want to distribute certain types of content on there, that's that's fine. But I think censoring is probably crossing the line, saying like, Hey, this is an open platform and we need to have more rules and protocols in order for those systems to be truly open and free. And if we can do that, then I think that opens up and saying, Okay, we're not going to censor this type of content, but Facebook and Twitter, we're not gonna amplify it through our algorithms. We're not gonna recommend it in the trending stop, but we're not gonna do it as ah shared thing popping up in your feet. And I think that's their right as a business, because they can say, Hey, we give you free distribution. That's what you're are effectively buying are using when you're using your service. But we don't owe you more than that. So if you have, you know 30 followers and you wanna post that out to the 30 followers and it's in, you know, chronological way, then. Okay, they can see it, but we're not gonna boosted. Um, my proposition isn't necessarily clean either, but you know, this state that we're in right now we're giving these big tech companies a ton of power, but also wanting to completely reform them. We're stuck in a by Molo distribution that is not going to end satisfactorily.
